In a move to bolster education and youth development in Ghana, Relief and Aid International, a non-governmental organisation, has awarded scholarships to 45 students enrolled in various tertiary institutions across the country.
The scholarship initiative, themed “Beyond the Aid: Unveiling the Future,” aims to support existing educational programmes and promote access to quality education. Beneficiaries of the award scheme are pursuing diverse academic disciplines, including accounting, medicine, food and nutrition, nursing, political science, and agriculture.
At a brief ceremony to commemorate the event, the President and Founder of Relief and Aid International, Peggy Adamafio, underscored the importance of civic responsibility in nurturing the potential of young people.
“It is our civic responsibility to ensure that the youth of today fully realise their potential and are afforded the opportunities to bring about positive changes in their lives,” she stated.
She further emphasized the need for well-trained individuals to contribute meaningfully to national development and urged the scholarship recipients to carry the torch with humility while extending support to other brilliant but needy students in the future.
The event also featured the Deputy Minister of Education, Dr. Clement Apaak, who lauded the scholarship programme.
He noted that it complements government policies such as the Free Senior High School and No Fee Stress initiatives, all geared towards achieving inclusive education and preparing Ghanaians for a knowledge-based economy.
Traditional leaders and key stakeholders in the education sector were present to lend their support and commend the initiative.
